bed time routine

there are some things that we MUST do before bed. for wes it is a bath, a bottle, and some stories or lullabies.

for me it is brushing my teeth and putting on something soft and comfortable.

for darin the one and only one thing he simply can not go to bed without doing is checking the latest sports stats on the internet.
from his phone in bed.
no matter how tired he is.
this is how i found him the other night.

i guess with the super bowl and the playoffs he has a lot to catch up on. poor little guy didn't even close his eyes all the way before drifting off into sports dreamland.

a beautiful day.

last night my dad talked me into going up to the beav for burgers in the parking lot. i called this morning to cancel, because darin had to coach, and because i'm a total wuss about cold weather. he once again talked me into going anyway, and oh man i'm so glad. it was so warm up there! i could see the sky and feel the sun. it's just what i needed.

hey, look! i finally got a picture of both of us looking at the camera.

weslis nose isn't big enough to hold her sunglasses up and they kept slipping down like this.
she's funny.

i remember never wanting to go skiing with my fam. especially once i was a teenager. i got the idea in my head that my saturdays were ruined by beaver. i wanted so bad to be with my friends at a movie or lunch or sitting around in emilys basement. it seemed anything was better than what i was doing. once i wanted to stay home so bad that i got in my laundry hamper and covered myself with clothes. i thought that when they couldn't find me they would just give up and leave without me. i was really embarrassed when my dad found me crouching down under a pile of dirty laundry.
i thought of that morning when he was talking me into coming. just like then i'm glad he didn't take no for an answer.
some things never change.

you know it's time for a nap when...

...your kid thinks their favorite activities would be more fun laying down.

lost in the archives.

i've been trying to move all of my pictures from one computer to another, and make discs of them all in the process. had to smile when i ran into these forgotten ones.
wesli was being so funny. she was eating teeny tiny pieces of her pb&j. sometimes like microscopic pieces. every few bites she would tear off part of the sandwich, and press it to her forehead, and raise it to the celling before finally putting it in her mouth. i wish so bad i could understand the thought process behind all the bizarre things she does.

oh yeah, and she spilt some milk and i guess didn't want it to go to waste. she sucked/licked it up off her tray.

hunger games

wow. you have to read it. my conflicting feelings for edward and jacob have been replaced by an obsession with gale an peeta. took me two days to read. granted i had to stay up until two in the morning, and wake in the wee hours of the morn, but it was worth it. the second instalment is just as good.

auld lang syne

tina, your husband is a freak. but i like it.

we hung out at smokin' blues barbecue to ring in the new year. i loved it. i will be going back. i was the only one in our party of 8 that felt that way. so maybe don't take my word for it.

welcome 2010.

a christmas to remember

christmas was awesome. my parents got the beatles rock band. we rocked it all afternoon. turns out i've been singing the words wrong to a number of beatles classics. goo goo ga joob? i always thought it was coo coo ca choo. anyway, i love christmas, and seriously can't wait until next year when wesli knows all about santa. now i have to face the rest of the winter. christmas time makes the snow and cold bearable, but once its gone we are left with an eternity until spring.
yuck.
